Nutrisca Dog Food Reviews (Ratings, Recalls & Ingredients!)
About the Company
Nutrisca is a brand of Dogswell, a company that focuses on making its dog food products the highest quality possible. As a result, you get great tastes, natural ingredients, added vitamins and minerals, and artificial ingredient and filler-free.
Dogswell creator, Marco Giannini, came up with his own solution to treating dogs with medicine when he founded the company in 2004. The owner of a dog with hip dysplasia, Giannini wanted to find an alternative to giving dogs with health issues daily pills. He wanted healthy nutrients to, instead, be added to a dog’s diet through its food.
Since first creating products with added Glucosamine and Chondroitin, the Dogswell brand has since expanded into five other brands. These include Super Boost, Happy Hips, Vitality, Boundless, and Nutrisca, all focusing on common wellness concerns for dogs.
Nutrisca is all about providing your dog with a balanced diet of healthy ingredients in addition to important vitamins and minerals.

It’s not often that a dog food really excites me, but Nutrisca does! While many brands advertise themselves as “healthy” brands, you can take a closer look at their ingredients and call them out. Cheap dog brands tend to use corn and soy as filler proteins because they’re cheaper than animal proteins, making the overall cost lower.
Even some brands that advertise themselves as premium dog food brands have less-than-desired ingredients. Preservatives and artificial colors or flavoring are a few examples.
Nutrisca has none of this. I’ve looked over the ingredients time and time again to make sure I’m not missing something. But I’m not missing anything, and Dogswell Nutrisca Reviews back me up.
Pros
I can’t get over how awesome the ingredients of Nutrisca dog food are. Happy pet owners are thrilled to serve this food to their dogs, and that’s an awesome sign. For example, Lisa L. left a review on Influenster stating that her dog has sensitivities to grains. Since switching to Nutrisca, her overall health and weight have improved.
I also love the Dogswell history. Its founder was a dog owner who simply wanted to find an alternative to giving dogs medicine. What better way than to fortify dog food with healthy ingredients, nutrients, and minerals to avoid medicines in the future? When you have a founder of a dog food company who understands and wants to make dog food better, you get a better product.
In addition to all the awesome nutrients and minerals, I’m impressed with the overall balance of this diet. By adding in fruits, vegetables, and a variety of protein, Nutrisca dog food is a leader in providing everything your dog needs. And is leaves out all the things you don’t want.
Cons
The reviews say nothing negative about the products itself but instead review it lower for reasons beyond Dogswell control, like a store’s choice to stop carrying the product.
The only negative thing I can report about Nutrisca dog food is its price tag. The list price on Chewy for a 4-lb. bag of Nutrisca Salmon & Chickpea Dog Food is $17.49, which is much higher than some other brands.
However, this is really only considered a con if you are not at all willing to pay extra for a better diet for your dog. Many dog owners are willing to pay for quality ingredients. They don't want to settle on a cheaper brand with artificial ingredients, food dyes, and fillers rather than a high-protein formula with added fruits and veggies. Personally, I’d be willing to shell out the money for this dog food.

Nutrisca far exceeds the majority of the required nutrients analysis of the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profile. I am especially impressed with the crude protein percentage of 32%, where the AAFCO minimum is 18%.
Dogs need a rich diet of animal protein to thrive, grow on schedule, maintain energy, and more. Fortunately, Nutrisca ensures that your dog is getting plenty of protein in its diet with each serving of Nutrisca dog food.
Nutrisca also contains other nutrients that the AAFCO doesn’t require, like DHA, Omega 3, and Omega 6. These are all health-boosting nutrients vital to both human and dog diets.
Nutrisca’s main proteins are animal proteins like chicken, salmon, and lamb. The awesome thing about Nutrisca, though, is that it also provides a balanced diet of veggies, fruits, and seeds in addition to meat. Dogs are classified as omnivores. So, a well-rounded diet of mostly animal protein with added veggies and fruits will provide the best meal for your dog.
In Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea dog food, you’ll find natural ingredients. Dried cranberries and blueberries, dried carrots and tomato pomace, salmon oil, and pea protein, to name a few. Absolutely no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives!

Final Thoughts
Dogswell Nutrisca dog food is one of the best diets you’ll find for your dog. It’s not often that I find a dog food so well-balanced with every possible ingredient you could want for your fuzzy friend, but Nutrisca has it all.
I love that it adds in fruits, something that is rare to find in dog food. But for omnivores, fruits and vegetables are extremely important to help provide natural vitamins and minerals within their diets, just like with humans.
I absolutely recommend Dogswell Nutrisca dog food as long as you’re willing to spend a little more to get a high-protein, high-quality diet for your dog.
