Boost Fido’s Health and Wellness with Breed-Specific Dog Food

A majority of American households own at least one dog, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This means that the dog care industry in the U.S. continues to grow due to the increasing number of dog owners who are willing to spend on their pet's welfare. Most pet parents will go to all lengths to make sure that they are only giving the best for their fur babies, including doing extensive research to know what types of food that dogs can and cannot eat. There are studies claiming that dogs should be given breed-specific dog food to give them the best health possible. But what are the benefits of serving breed-specific food for your beloved dogs?

For Better Nutrition

Dog food manufacturers offer breed-specific dog food to provide the best nutrition for the family's favorite furry pal. Ideally, some larger dog breeds like German Shepherds and Siberian Huskies need to eat something with a higher fat content to sustain their energy. On the other hand, there are dog breeds like the American Pit Bull Terrier and Labrador Retriever that are more prone to food allergies. If you will give your dog breed-specific diets, it will be able to get the right kind of nutrients needed by the body and help them avoid any possible food intolerance in the future.

For Slowing Down Fast Eaters

Breeds like Beagle or Labrador tends to eat their food within seconds. This may have an adverse effect on their health such as overeating and digestive problems. If you will feed them with food that is larger in size and shaped like clover or a donut, they will be encouraged to chew their meals properly and stop them from wolfing down everything at lightning speed.

For Brachycephalic Dogs

Breeds like Pugs, Boxers, French Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, and Rottweilers have a tendency to have abnormally shaped jaws and an underbite. This may make it hard for them to eat large-sized kibbles. If you will offer them dog food that will suit their needs, these dogs will never have any problem with eating their meals.

More importantly, providing your best dog friend a breed-specific food will help them avoid any possible digestive sensitivities. But giving the right food to your dog may not be the only thing that can make them healthy. You still need to give them regular exercise and proper grooming so they will remain in the prime of their health for a long time.
