FIGO is an innovative pet insurance company that seeks to bring pet owners comprehensive insurance coverage. However, it combines this with the company’s technology roots, as it sits in Chicago’s premiere technology facility since 1871.
The company is making bold moves to mix its love for technology with awesome pet insurance. With FIGO, your dog can be in the cloud. In the what, you say?
FIGO has a cloud-based app where you can view all of your dog’s medical information with a few touches of your smartphone screen. Pay your premiums, look up your claims, view your policy, and more, using the FIGO app.

FIGO Pet Insurance Review
It’s clear, through my FIGO pet insurance reviews, that FIGO has an enormous customer satisfaction rate. In fact, using websites like Trustpilot, Yelp, and Best Company, FIGO customer reviews are some of the highest I’ve seen for a pet insurance company. That, in itself, is an excellent sign. Here are a few of the pros and cons associated with the company.
Pros
Comprehensive Policies
FIGO covers just about every medical service you could want. It even covers your dog’s vet exam fees, which most insurance companies will not cover without additional costs. You can be reimbursed for veterinary specialists, chronic conditions, high-cost diagnostic exams, hospitalizations, and more. You know, all the services that can put a large dent in your wallet.
Additionally, FIGO provides you with ways to customize your policy to fit your budget. The company will pay up to 100% of your costs for covered services, but if you need a lower premium, you can lower the reimbursement level. You can also choose your deductible, from $50 to $500, to better work within your budget.
Your Dog Is In The Cloud
FIGO’s cloud-based system is seriously cutting edge for a pet insurance company. Your vet or emergency medical team can have access to your dog’s medical records in the event of an emergency. This can save a lot of time when it counts the most.
Plus, you can go fully paperless so you can have all of your information on hand whenever you need it. File claims, get reminders for appointments or vaccines, place lost and found ads, and more. You can even get paid electronically for your claims, through the app.
Fast And Easy Claims
You can file your claims fast and easily through the FIGO app. So, no more dealing with endless paperwork and long wait times. You’ll have to fulfill the waiting period for claims, which is 14 days for illnesses and 5 days for accidents, after opening your policy. After that, use the app to make a claim and the company will work hard to approve it in about 5 business days.
Cons
No Routine Or Preventative Care Coverage
Most insurance companies do not provide routine or preventative care services in their main policies. Although some insurance companies do provide add-on coverage for these services, FIGO does not. So, you won’t receive reimbursement for things like vaccinations, spaying or neutering, or pest prevention.
However, it’s important to note that FIGO does provide reimbursement for vet exam fees. Most insurance companies do not provide this coverage without additional premium costs. So, this is something important to consider when making your final decision for pet insurance.
May Require Senior Wellness Testing For Dogs Over 8
FIGO provides insurance for any dog 6 weeks of age and older. However, when it’s time to renew your policy annually for your dog who is 8 or older, the terms get a little muddled.
According to FIGO’s Frequently Asked Questions section of its website:
“…if you are renewing a policy for a dog that is 8 years or older or a cat that is 10 years or older, we ask that you follow your veterinarian’s advice with regard to senior wellness testing.”
The company doesn’t state its exact policies regarding senior dogs. However, it sounds like you may need some extra vet procedures done before renewing your policy if your dog is 8 years or older. When you talk to FIGO about opening a policy, I suggest asking the representative specifically about this policy.
Limited Business Hours
FIGO operates during normal business hours. So, you can get a hold of them Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 6 pm CST. This can be inconvenient for those who need to talk to a representative outside of normal business hours. However, you can send the company an e-mail or text to have someone respond to you once it’s open.
FIGO Pet Insurance Reviews Of Plans
With FIGO, your dog and its policy are all in the cloud. This creates a unique experience most insurance providers don’t provide. You have access to your policy information, your dog’s medical records, bill pay, and more. To learn more about the FIGO Pet Cloud, check out this video:
Additionally, FIGO is sure to impress you with its comprehensive coverages. Here are a few of the coverages your dog will receive on his FIGO policy:
- Vet exam fees
- Accidents
- Illnesses
- Injuries
- Surgeries
- Prescriptions
- Emergency room visits
- Chronic, hereditary, and congenital conditions
- Prosthetics and orthopedics
- Cancer treatments
That’s right. With FIGO, you will even have your vet exam fees reimbursed. The company will not, however, provide reimbursement for some things. For example, pre-existing conditions, experimental procedures, and breeding/pregnancy costs are excluded.
