Pit Bull Insurance: Top 5 Plans (Affordable & Comprehensive)

Many pet owners falsely believe that it is impossible to find pet insurance that covers pit bulls, when in fact, there are many insurance companies that accept pit bulls.

The real issue is finding a company that accepts pit bulls and doesn’t charge an outrageous monthly premium to cover. The cost of pit bull coverage is often higher than that of other breeds because they are a purebred dog. This means that pit bulls have a higher risk of developing some common health problems including hip dysplasia and hereditary cataracts as they age.

Fortunately, this does not mean that you are excluded from getting pet insurance coverage for your dog. Most pet insurance companies adjust prices based on breed, but there are affordable options that offer insurance for pit bulls that will include coverage for common conditions.

When comparing pet insurance companies that cover pit bulls, you’ll want to check if the company covers hereditary or chronic conditions, as pit bulls can develop these.

Let’s get into the today’s recommended plans!

Embrace

Another company that I recommend from time to time is Embrace. Their pet insurance has a huge range of prices depending on what you select, and for pit bulls, the monthly premium usually ranges between $10 and $100. Most owners select a plan that brings them in the $40 range.

Embrace has a great wellness rewards program that doesn’t specify how many times you can get a specific kind of treatment (exams, dental cleaning, etc.), but instead gives a yearly allowance that you can spend on whatever you would like. $250, $450, and $650 allowances are available.

Overall, Embrace is a good option to get insurance for your pit bull.

Pets Best

The best insurance for pit bulls that I can recommend comes from one of my favorite pet insurance companies, Pets Best. This company has a great reputation for putting pets and owners first and for always having good prices.

The main reason I love Pets Best is that they’re easy to use, and they have great customer service. On top of that, their plans are some of the most flexible I’ve ever seen. You can customize your deductible, reimbursements, and coverage options to fit your needs. You can also add on an affordable wellness plan which costs $26/month.

Coverage for your pit bull will cost between $25 and $50 per month depending on the selections you make. This is very affordable and is the lowest range of coverage cost that you will find.

Healthy Paws

Another great option for pit bull owners with plans ranging from $35 to $70 per month is Healthy Paws.

The coverage offered by Healthy Paws has fewer exclusions than many other pet insurance companies, and their policies are always clear. This means that you will know upfront what is covered and what is not. If you have any questions, their customer service is always there to assist as well.

Need an Alternative? Try Healthy Paws Pet Insurance:

Healthy Paws Pet Insurance and Foundation.

Another great thing is that all plans from Healthy Paws have a deductible but have no annual limit on coverage. This means that you don’t have to guesstimate how much coverage you might need in a year. After all, how do you estimate an accident? Anything can happen, so it's better to have as much money as needed available to you through your pet insurance.

Petplan

The next company I’d like to highlight is Petplan. Their coverage for pit bulls ranges from between $20 and $100 per month. The high end of coverage here gets pretty pricey, but overall, there are very affordable options available depending on how you want to customize your plan.

Coverage from Petplan is available in different levels (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). Their plans are unique in that they also cover things like boarding fees from the Silver level up. All types of coverage also include some benefits for all accidents, illnesses, cancer, and more.

Plus, their customers love them! Anytime I see customers satisfied with their pet insurance company, I'm sure to take a closer look at the brand, and Petplan has passed my inspection. I bet it will pass yours, too.
