24 Pet Watch Rating

24 Pet Watch Review

I’ve gone through dozens of 24PetWatch insurance reviews as well as their policy terms to figure out the good and the bas of this pet insurance company. Overall, I think they’re a standard company that will do their part to help keep your dog covered. There are some cons, but I do not think that you will be completely wasting your money if you buy a policy from them.

Pros

Two Different Wellness Plans

Many 24 hour Pet Watch reviews mention that they love the option to add-on a wellness plan from 24 PetWatch. Many pet insurance companies offer this, but it’s still a great option to have. There are different wellness plan options (routine or advanced, starting at $10 or $25 per month, respectively). These options will help offset the regular cost of owning your dog.

Each Level Has Levels

There are five different levels of coverage from PetWatch that each covered a different amount annually. Within those levels, you can also select different deductibles to adjust how much you are paying monthly and how much you would need to pay out-of-pocket for an emergency before your insurance would kick in. This customization is great for many pet owners looking for an adjustable plan.

Covers Hip Dysplasia

While they do not specify about all types of hereditary or congenital conditions, 24 PetWatch does cover hip dysplasia, which is very common for many dogs to develop. Treatment costs can be very expensive for hip dysplasia, so this is a great benefit to having 24 PetWatch. Many pet insurance companies do not cover this, so it's great to see a company specify that they do.

Offer Microchip And Lost Pet Services

While not directly related to pet insurance coverage or costs, 24 PetWatch is also known for their microchip and lost pet services. They offer medical alert packages, microchip packages, 24-hour pet monitoring, and more through these services. If your pet has a medical condition that needs to be regularly monitored, these plans can be hugely beneficial to keep them safe.

Cons

Confusing Branding

Some 24 Pet Watch reviews mention confusing about the brand. It has been known as other names in the past (including PetCare, QuickCare, ShelterCare, and UnionPlus). This confuses customers about why there is a name different. 24 PetWatch as a whole has been around since 1999, however, so I don’t think this is a huge cause for concern.

Unclear Policies

Another great problem point that many 24PetWatch reviews bring up is that the company does not clearly lay out whether or not coverage on hereditary/congenital conditions is included. This is frustrating because it isn’t a clear yes or no answer, which most companies provide. While not all owners will need this coverage, it’s best to know exactly what is included and 24 PetWatch doesn’t tell you.

Doesn’t Allow Senior Pet Enrollment

The dog pet insurance plans offered at www.24petwatch.com does not allow for the enrollment of dogs over age 12. There are some companies that exclude dogs over 14 years old, but a 12-year old enrollment cap is quite low. This can be frustrating for owners of dogs that have a life expectancy of 15 or more years because there is still a high risk of an accident or unexpected illness, but PetWatch won’t offer them coverage.

Plan Options

I just received notice that my current coverage will be replaced by a new one. Over the past 6 years my premium has gone from just over $30 per month to the new quote of $72 per month. Obamacare is blamed for the skyrocketing increases for human coverage. Other than insurance company greed, what will pet care cost increase be blamed on? I would have been better off depositing the monthly premium amount in a savings account.
