English Bulldog Insurance: 5 Great Plans (You Can Afford)
Looking for English Bulldog insurance for your best friend? Look no more! I know how frustrating it can be to find pet insurance for English Bulldogs. Many companies flat out refuse to cover English Bulldogs, and others charge incredibly high rates simply because of their breed.
Like other dogs in the same family, they often face these premium increases and restrictions on insurance coverage because of stereotypes against the breed about being aggressive, dangerous, and prone to many health problems.
Some of my favorite insurance companies offer excellent coverage and do not put a huge premium on coverage for English Bulldogs. Let’s go through my favorite insurance brands that offer reasonably affordable coverage for English Bulldogs, including details of the plans and their customization options.

English Bulldog Insurance Reviews
Embrace Dog Insurance
Another great option for English Bulldog pet insurance is from Embrace Dog insurance. Embrace offers complete Accident and Illness coverage, and you can also add-on a Routine Care plan that will give you the help you need to cover regular veterinary costs.
When it comes to the price difference, there is a slight premium for having an English Bulldog on Embrace. Medium range coverage is about $20 more than a mixed breed on Embrace, but the add-on price for routine wellness care is not adjusted based on the breed.
While expensive, Embrace offers one of the highest levels of insurance care possible with a pet insurance brand.
Pets Best
English Bulldog pet insurance from PetsBest is less expensive than American Bulldog pet insurance, which is relatively rare with pet insurance companies. Due to their likelihood to develop various health issues, English Bulldog owners are usually charged a higher premium to get pet insurance. That is not the case with PetsBest, which is great.
Coverage from PetsBest comes in three levels: bronze, silver, and gold. All levels of coverage include dental emergency coverage such as dental diseases, emergency tooth extractions, fractured teeth, and more. You can also add Wellness routine coverage to your plan for an additional $26 a month, which is standard no matter what breed of dog you have.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
The best pet insurance for English Bulldogs in my books is Healthy Paws because they have my favorite insurance services of any pet insurance company, but they are certainly not the cheapest. I was disappointed to find that Healthy Paws charges nearly double the price for an English Bulldog over mixed breeds or American Bulldogs. I understand the difference in care costs and risks by breed, but this seemed excessive to me.
Still, Healthy Paws makes my list because they are such an exceptional company. If you’re able to afford the coverage, Healthy Paws is an excellent choice. They offer unlimited yearly benefits after reaching your deductible; they cover both chronic and hereditary conditions, and they have the best customer service around.
While the price is steep for an English Bulldog, the care you’ll find on Healthy Paws cannot be matched.
Petplan
Middle ground coverage from Petplan for your English Bulldog will come in around $70 per pet. This is less expensive than it is to cover an American Bulldog, but still considerably higher the price of the cost of insuring a mixed breed dog under a policy from Petplan. The least expensive coverage comes in around $30 a month.
I know, that’s a huge difference, but I genuinely believe that the care you get from Petplan is worth the investment you’d be putting into the plan.
Their customizable plans give you the flexibility you need to choose the annual coverage and deductible you’ll have. You can also select the reimbursement percentage for all vet bills associated with your plan.
Nationwide Dog Insurance
When you enroll in Nationwide Dog Insurance, the price is the same for most purebred dogs from English Bulldogs to American Bulldogs. Other companies have huge differences among similar breeds. With the Whole Pet With Wellness insurance plan (which also covers routine care) you would pay around $70 per month, which is only $10 more than for a mixed breed.
If you don’t want routine care included, you could get a plan for around $30 per month, which is the same as it would be for a purebred for only emergency accident and illness coverage.
Nationwide Dog Insurance is a solid investment for more than just the price. They also cover cancer, hereditary and congenital conditions, dental diseases, and behavioral treatments among other conditions. Many insurance companies exclude some of these conditions, so Nationwide provides an excellent level of comprehensive coverage.

While coverage for English Bullys might be more expensive because of their breed, that doesn’t mean they should not be insured. Owning a bulldog comes with the responsibility of finding out how to afford insurance and care coverage without sacrificing the health of your pet.
With the plans I’ve outlined above, you should be able to provide that insurance support for the care of your dog!
